It brings me so much joy to see others succeed! The power of ConnectMyVariant is the people who come together as a community to help their relatives prevent hereditary disease. ConnectMyVariant empowers people like you to inform additional relatives about hereditary risk so they can take action to protect their health. Thursday, November 28, 2024, is National Family Health History Day in the United States. Whether or not you are gathering with family, please take some time to talk about your health history. As a group, we can support our families and others… and we can end hereditary disease. You are making a huge difference for good in the world!
ConnectMyVariant’s leadership is committed to keeping our resources free for as long as we can. ConnectMyVariant is almost entirely volunteer run, but we need some financial resources to provide services to those who sign up and help us reach more people. This week I will thank one of my longtime friends for donating $100 to ConnectMyVariant. I am excited to tell him that his gift is the just about what it costs to help one new person learn about their family’s genetic risk and get access to testing and prevention.
If hereditary disease has impacted your family or a friend’s family, and you want to assist others like you, please consider donating or setting up a personalized fundraiser to help ConnectMyVariant provide services for all members through 2025.
Setting up a fundraiser on Every.org, our fundraising platform, is easy. Simply choose an image, post a video on YouTube with your story, and/or write a message. Every.org automatically creates a web page that features your content with all the information necessary to make donations to ConnectMyVariant. The process takes about 5 minutes. You can then share the page with your friends, relatives, and social media followers. All donations go directly to ConnectMyVariant. Every.org will ask for an optional tip to cover their overhead. Every person who starts a fundraiser by December 31, no matter the amount raised, will be entered in a raffle for an appreciation gift of one quart of Vermont pure maple syrup. In addition, if your fundraiser raises $50 or more this year, ConnectMyVariant will send you or the person of your choice an AncestryDNA or MyHeritage DNA kit as an appreciation gift.
